Scorpions’ QB Gage Malkin is facing a crucial year for his career

SATELLITE BEACH, Fla. — Gage Malkin, the senior starting quarterback for the Satellite Scorpions football team, is at a critical stage in his career, leading his team in a season in which his numbers improved remarkably.

The previous two seasons weren’t bad for the Satellite Scorpions’ quarterback. He played in 11 total games in his sophomore year, throwing for 958 passing yards and six passing touchdowns. He also had nine interceptions, but that did not stop him from becoming one of the team leaders, taking the position that belonged to John Hinkell the year before.

In a very difficult 2020 for the sports world, Malkin improved the numbers of his first season. In just eight total games, he threw for 1,174 yards and 18 touchdowns with just four interceptions. The growth that the Scorpions’ quarterback had was remarkable. One example was the first game of the season where he threw eight touchdown passes for the 63-0 victory against Cocoa Beach.

In the 2021 season, Malkin entered his senior year with high expectations after what happened in the past. H has not disappointed. He has led his team throughout the season and is an essential piece in the team’s aspirations towards the end of the year.

The stats don’t lie. Malkin’s performance in 2021 continues to impress all fans. Until the victory against Tavares in the playoff, the Scorpions’ quarterback registered 11 total games, throwing for 2,063 yards and 29 touchdown passes. However, it was also the year with the most interceptions, with 11. As if that were not enough, he averaged 13.1 completed passes and 2.6 touchdowns per game.

In the state of Florida, Malkin can boast of being one of the most outstanding quarterbacks. He is one of the best in a variety of categories for current seniors. In touchdowns, he ranks fifth. Meanwhile, he’s in the top-15 for most passes completed and most yards per pass.

The good results of the Scorpions are not only a product of the excellent performance of their quarterback. Other players have played an important role in fighting in the playoffs. One of Malkin’s favorite targets is junior wide receiver Eddie Combs, who surpassed 10 touchdowns this year. Parker Dawson, Haven Marascio and Garrett Tantius have also been influential in the offense.

The puzzle to be solved is how far the Scorpions can go. With Malkin as the leader, the team is full of confidence. The players work with lots of chemistry on the field and are ready for the challenges ahead. Satellite Beach waits to crown its heroes.
