Caleb Downs is a standout for Mill Creek football
HOSCHTON, Ga. — The Mill Creek High School Hawks are standing out as one of the top football programs in the Braselton area and the entire state of Georgia. One player who stands out from the pack is Caleb Downs, a safety for the Hawks.
Caleb is a junior who is expected to be a highly sought-after prospect for college football programs. 24/7 Sports鈥 Chris Singletary said that Caleb is one of the best players in the state.

Caleb is the son of Gary Downs, a standout running back for North Carolina State from 1990 to 1993 and played in the NFL for six seasons. He is also the younger brother of Josh Downs, a star wide receiver at North Carolina.
Caleb has been very active in his starring role on the Mill Creek football team. He has been active in tackling ball carriers and managing zone defense. He is also active in completing interceptions. Caleb has some experience on offense and has worked on the air and ground game, but most of his work is on defense.
His work has been a critical part of why the Hawks are one of the top teams in Georgia. The Hawks won all but one of their regular season games in 2021. Their single loss came to Collins Hill, the top-rated team in the state.
Caleb has received multiple offers from various schools to join the Class of 2023. Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Ohio State are the top teams in the running for Caleb鈥檚 services. Other prominent schools that have sent offers include Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, North Carolina State, Tennessee and UCF.
also rates Downs as the 40th-best football recruit for the Class of 2023. He is a four-star recruit, although he is very close to reaching five-star status. He is the third-ranked player from Georgia on the list, behind Milton鈥檚 defensive lineman Lebbeus Overton and Warner Robins鈥 lineman Vic Burley.
