New Rochelle soccer’s Amalia Cardo voted player of the week
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. — Near the end of last month, Amalia Cardo was recognized as the Lohud Girls Soccer Player of the Week. This incredible honor was bestowed upon her by thousands of votes that came through a poll on the Lohud website. Cardo ended up receiving 9,416 of the total 24,747 votes cast for the Player of the Week, a whopping 38 percent of all votes that were cast.Â
As a sophomore at New Rochelle high school, it is incredible to see Cardo contribute and lead her team to such a high level of success. In a recent playoff match against one of their rivals, the White Plains Tigers, Cardo not only scored a hat-trick, but she also scored her last goal in the clutch when her team needed it the most. The final score depicts this, as her last goal put New Rochelle up 3-2 to seal the victory. It is remarkable to see what Cardo can do at this stage in her development and only time will tell what accomplishments she will receive in the future.
