Jakob Brook: Giving his best for the Regina Pats despite injury

REGINA, Saskatchewan — Jakob Brook is a hockey player who plays for the Regina Pats in the Western Hockey League. Brook was born in Roblin, Manitoba, Canada, on March 15, 2002. He is 19 years old, 6-foot-2, weighs 91 kilograms and plays as a left-winger.

He started playing his youth hockey with the Parkland Ranger U15 in the 2015-16 season in the Winnipeg AAA Hockey U15. He played 36 games, scored 15 goals and provided 18 assists. Young Brook was ranked third behind Mark Liwiski and Carter Cockburn in the 2015-16 skaters鈥 statistics. He also played one more game in the playoffs.

In the Canadian Sport School Hockey League the following season with the Rink Hockey Academy, Brook played 27 games, scored 20 goals and provided 12 assists. He was ranked sixth in the skater statistics, although with fewer games played. He played three other games in the playoffs and one game in the U18, and he scored one goal in the playoffs.

After moving to the Rink Hockey Academy Prep, Brook went from good to better. He scored 12 goals and helped with 24 assists in 34 games in the regular season of 2017-18. He provided one assist in three playoff games played that same season and was ranked fifth in the skaters鈥 statistics.

After two seasons in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League, he joined the Prince Albert Raiders in the Western Hockey League. He played 84 games in the 2018-19 season–61 in the regular season and 23 in the playoffs. Only players who make a certain level of impact in their team get that number of games.

He gave six assists and scored six goals in the regular season. He also provided two assists in the playoffs. In the 2019-20 season, Brook scored 38 games, scored three goals and provided six assists before moving to the Regina Pats, where he played eight other games, scoring just one goal.

Even with injury setting in and trying to slow Brook down, he didn鈥檛 give in. But, unfortunately, he could only play one game in 2020-21 due to the broken bone in his lower left leg.

鈥淚t has felt like forever,鈥 said after recovering from a broken bone in his lower left leg. 鈥淚 am just excited to be back on the ice now.鈥

But Brook is back with the Pats in the 2021-22 season, this time stronger and better.

He was part of the bronze-winning team of the Western Hockey League Cup in the 2017-18 season when he played in the Rink Hockey Academy Prep. Brook was also part of the Prince Albert Raiders that won the Western Hockey League Championship in the 2018-19 season–the same season he played over eight games for the Raiders.

The most exciting thing about Brook is his consistency when it comes to delivery on the pitch. You can always count on him. He has already played eight games for the Pats this season and has provided one assist. Even the injury could not stop him from being at his best.
