Ty Goldrick setting himself up for a strong senior year at Richmond Hill

RICHMOND HILL, Ga. — Ty Goldrick had an active junior season with the Richmond Hill Wildcats varsity football team this year. The team’s season was a mixed bag, as the club went 4-5 and had a 4-2 record in their AAAAAA Region 2 games. But while the season was tough, Goldrick showed his talent as the team’s quarterback. He is hoping to bring his game ahead a little further in the coming season, as he is looking forward to seeing what will happen with the Wildcats and his teammates.

Goldrick was more active in passing than most other quarterbacks in the Savannah area. He completed 103 of his 161 attempts this year. He had 1,368 passing yards, which was good for 171 passing yards per game. But while he did have nine touchdowns, he also threw nine interceptions.

Goldrick’s goal for the coming year is expected to be to become more accurate and to watch for how his receivers’ routes change down the field. He also aims to improve his running game and his ability to avoid sacks. Although he had a rushing touchdown earlier this year and did complete a few successful scrambles, his running total was at a negative due to the sacks he took. He tallied -51 rushing yards due to the losses from sacks he experienced this season.

But he’s also shown his willingness to go far down the field from the air. He has completed multiple passes of at least 20 yards each. These include one 80-yard touchdown pass to junior Ravon Grant and a 73-yard pass to sophomore Nick Bliss.

In terms of Goldrick’s targets, he managed to find many figures throughout the year. Grant was his best target, as he had 664 yards and four touchdowns. Nick Bliss also had 243 yards and two touchdowns. Seniors Tommy Bliss and Hayden McCullough were also active from the field, as they both got a few touchdowns for the team. The team continues to have many receiving options, especially as the club focuses more on the passing game over rushing.

The 2022 season will be a big senior year for Goldrick. His hope is to be more active and to bring the Richmond Hill Wildcats to more victories in the coming year. It will be appealing to see what Goldrick will be doing for the team as they continue their way to the playoffs.
