Lone Peak HS girls soccer team off to a hot start in pre-season games

ALPINE, Utah — The 2021 Lone Peak Girls Soccer team has been a strong team since the games and practices started during the summer. Tryouts began in late July with pre-season games running throughout August. They played against teams not only out of their region, but also out of state for those matches.

With only two of the ten games played being losses, the ladies have a solid core, let alone a group of talented and hard working players. There are 12 Seniors that play on the team and nine of them typically start a game. According to their online roster, there are 42 players between the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams, aging in range between 9th and 12th grades. With an average of 10 players per grade, hopefully this means a good core of players for each class as they advance through their high school careers.

Coach Shantel Jolley, who has been coaching and teaching with Lone Peak High School for the past five years, has been pleased with her players this year. In 2018, she coached her team to become the 6A State Champions. In the past two years, they have been eliminated during the quarter finals, and unfortunately also lost in this year’s quarterfinals against Syracuse.

Although Coach Jolley will be losing strong players and leading scorers, there are always players that are stepping up to take those vacant positions. It will be exciting to see what this younger group of players accomplish next season.
