Q&A with Mamaroneck High quarterback Jason Cox
MAMARONECK, N.Y. — Watching the boys Varsity Football team play under the Friday Night Lights has been magical this season. Fans and community members came out in the hundreds to support this year鈥檚 team and local families impacted by Hurricane Ida. The Tigers have been on fire this season with a strong roster of players all focused on one goal – winning! We caught up with Junior captain and quarterback Jason Cox to hear his thoughts on the season:
What are your thoughts on the season?
Jason Cox: I think we have a very strong team this year. We have depth at almost every position and versatile guys who can play on both sides of the ball. We can be one of the best teams Mamaroneck has ever had.
What makes the team this year so special?
Cox: This team is special because of the chemistry we have. Most of us have been playing together for 4-5 years and we trust each other. We also have an amazing coaching staff that makes sure everyone knows their job and gets it done.
How did Hurricane Ida impact your team?
Cox: Hurricane Ida impacted our team in many ways. Some of the players and coaches got hit very hard. We were also able to help in the community and work together to clean up the neighborhood.
What are your personal and team goals for the season?
Cox: My personal goal is to be part of a winning team. The ultimate team goal is winning the section championship. We have a lot of potential and as long as we stay humble and put in the work, that is a realistic goal for us.
