Jason Tincher and Bellbrook girls basketball team looks to make a run at state
BELLBROOK, Ohio — The varsity girls basketball team is coming off a successful 2020-21 season. Bellbrook finished the season with an 18-5 record and an 11-1 record in the Southwestern Buckeye League. The Golden Eagles made an appearance in the Ohio High School Athletic Association basketball tournament but fell short to Miamisburg 35-27.
The Golden Eagles are led into their season by head coach Jason Tincher and assistant coach Courtney Boyd. Jason Tincher reached a fantastic milestone when he recorded his 300th win as a head coach last season. After recording his 300th win, had this to say to reporters:
鈥淭he most fun wins are the title games. There鈥檚 nothing like putting a medal around your neck and cutting down that net in Mason and at Springfield to win that game, knowing that you won that game to go to state. Those are the most special wins. Springfield has given me so many memories.鈥
Bellbrook hasn鈥檛 recorded a losing season since hiring Jason Tincher as their head coach. The Golden Eagles had a streak of 19-win seasons dating back to 2013. Unfortunately, Bellbrook鈥檚 19-win season streak ended last year with an overall record of 18-6.
Jason Tincher鈥檚 team will be led by senior point guard Dreann Pryce, the second-leading scorer on last year鈥檚 team. Pryce averaged 9.7 points per game, 3.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 3.6 steals for the Golden Eagles. Bellbrook will return a ton of talent from last year鈥檚 team and will look to make a run at the state semifinals.
Jason Tincher has led Bellbrook to the state semifinals twice in 2012 and 2018. Last season, the Golden Eagles had a goal to reach 20 wins but fell two games short. Tincher should feel comfortable about getting the 20 wins this season with all the talent returning.
Bellbrook鈥檚 success holds significant value to their head coach because he鈥檚 a graduate of Bellbrook High School. In the last 18 years, the Golden Eagles have won or shared the SWBL league championship. When asked about his plans for coaching in the future, Tincher
鈥淚鈥檓 not going to coach anywhere else. I always thought maybe there鈥檚 something else, or maybe we鈥檒l find another thing. It鈥檚 a weird feeling once you get in. It鈥檚 like your baby. You don鈥檛 want to give it up, and you just don鈥檛 want to give it to anybody. It鈥檚 affecting my coaching because I care so much about Bellbrook.鈥
Bellbrook鈥檚 in good hands, and the Golden Eagles are looking to continue their success under Tincher for many years to come. The Golden Eagles kick off their 2021-22 basketball season on the road against Fairmont High School on Nov. 6.
