Meet Cayden Romero, Rio Rancho’s 17-year old powerhouse offensive tackle
RIO RANCHO, N.M.  —  Cayden Romero is a star in the making at the Rio Rancho High School (RRHS). He is a powerhouse when it comes to acing the offensive tackle position on the football field.
The 17-year-old football sensation can and bench press 300 pounds with ease. Romero has been working on his speed, agility, endurance, strength and footwork. The teenager has been undertaking private training at the Westside Power Gym to hone his skills.
In June 2020, the University of New Mexico offered him a scholarship to join their football program. He is, however, yet to graduate from the RRHS until next year. Romero’s height (6-feet-5-inches) and weight (330 lbs.) make him an ideal candidate for the offensive line. In 2020, he bagged First Team All-State honors as well.
Romero has been operating as a regular varsity starter for two years now under Bob Stanley, his high school assistant coach. What makes Romero stand head and shoulders above others is his versatility in the field. While his primary position is offensive tackle, the teenager can also feature as a defensive tackle for his team.
With his skills on the gridiron, expect Romero to earn plenty more Division I attention as the season winds down. With his strength and abilities, the only way this powerhouse offensive lineman can go it up.
