Where are they now?: Former Southlake Carroll QB Kenny Hill Jr.

SOUTHLAKE, Texas (BVM) 鈥 The Southlake Carroll Dragons have a proud history of great quarterback play. And one of those quarterbacks to take the field for the Dragons was former quarterback Kenny Hill Jr.

It was apparent Hill was special during his senior season in 2012. After passing for 2,918 yards and throwing for 26 touchdowns, Hill was awarded Gatorade Texas Football Player of the Year. He also carried the ball 119 times for 1,192 yards and 28 TDs during that special season.

“Kenny Hill exemplified the characteristics of what makes Texas high school football special,鈥 Haltom High School football head coach Scot Hafley said in a . 鈥淗e was more than just a great athlete. He displayed tremendous leadership on the field. His poise and self-confidence were evident with the way he handled himself and encouraged those around him to play hard on every snap.鈥

Hill went 35-3 in his career with the Dragons. He was the winningest quarterback in school history.

Hill verbally committed to Texas A&M during his senior year and in the fall of 2013, he headed to College Station to back up then starter Johnny Manziel. Hill would only play two years with the Aggies before transferring to Texas Christian University (TCU).

At TCU, Hill completed 64% of his passes and scored a total of 55 TDs (40 passing, 15 rushing) according to . In his final season with the Horned Frogs, Hill helped the team achieve the No. 9 ranking in the nation and defeated the No. 15-ranked Stanford Cardinals in the Valero Alamo Bowl.

Hill eventually went undrafted but joined the Oakland (now Las Vegas) Raiders in 2018 and ended up being released. He found his way to the Montreal Alouettes of the CFL. But then once again, Hill found himself at the college level, this time as a student assistant. But in 2020, Hill was promoted to the quarterback coach and that鈥檚 where he鈥檚 been since.

鈥淗e brings that energy and he kind of brings that juice to the quarterback room that we鈥檙e all looking for,鈥 TCU starting quarterback Max Duggan .

Who knows where Hill may end up next. The landscape of football is changing rapidly and with more NFL teams looking to implement the college-style of offense, Hill could find himself at the professional level again.聽
