The Wichita Falls High School Coyotes multi-faceted player, Bricen Vialpando, proves he can play the entire field
WICHITA FALLS, Texas 鈥 The Wichita Falls High School football team has a secret weapon. That weapon is senior Bricen Vialpando.
Vialpando is like a universal remote control: one device used for many different functions.
Some of the positions he has played for the Coyotes include running back, wide receiver, linebacker and safety.聽 As a sophomore running back, Bricen rushed for a team-high 822 yards, four touchdowns on 164 carries, and he caught 26 passes for 212 yards.聽 He moved to wide receiver his junior year and had 35 receptions for 545 yards, four TDs, and he also played safety with 22 tackles.聽 For the 2021-22 season, Vialpando was named primarily as a wide receiver.
But because Bricen is likened to a universal remote, the 鈥淛ack of all trades鈥 on the football field, the coaches decided to challenge him yet again.聽 Right before their district play began, Bricen was named starting quarterback.聽 Add QB to his growing list of positions he excels at.
鈥淲herever he needs me to be, that鈥檚 where I got to go and do the job鈥, said Bricen on his coach鈥檚 decision.
That decision proved correct. In Wichita Falls High School鈥檚 first win of the season, Vialpando shined brightly. He accounted for all but 39 yards of the team鈥檚 total yards, completing 13 of 21 passes for 196 yards and two touchdowns, as well as rushing for 171 yards on 14 carries and a TD.聽 This led to the Coyotes beating their rival, Burkburnett, 35-14.
Bricen Vialpando is a player for recruiters to watch.聽 Whether college teams need an outstanding quarterback, running back or wide receiver, this kid gives his all in every position he plays and his stats prove he can do almost anything.
