Lake Stevens earns massive 20-3 victory against O’Dea in Memorial Classic
SEATTLE – During the Lake Stevens-O’Dea football game at Memorial Stadium it seemed as though the Fighting Irish would be the victors. At the beginning of the first quarter, O’Dea was dominant and immediately scored three points. They showed a wonderful start to the game, but penalties and miscues broke this lead. Lake Stevens was missing their passes initially, but they came back in the game in the second quarter. Grayson Murren of Lake Stevens had trust in his teammates and continued the game with impressive performance.
The Vikings took a 7-3 lead in the second quarter as they proceeded for a 70-yard touchdown drive. This was when Lake Stevens gained strength and didn’t let O’Dea establish their lead at any time.
In the second quarter, it just took two plays for Stevens to broaden their lead to 14-3. O’Dea tried to be in the game through the air, but Murren of Lake Stevens ensured that their defense was strong leading O’Dea to a dead end.
At the end of the third quarter, Murren led his team to 20-3 by throwing for a 70-yard touchdown.
Lake Stevens made things difficult for the O’Dea up to the final whistle. Their defensive system was so strong in the final quarter that O’Dea couldn’t even get close to get a touchdown.
Hence, Lake Stevens had a great win, 20-3. It was the first loss of the season for O’Dea. Lake Stevens’ next match is with Archbishop Murphy, and the next match of O’Dea has been cancelled due to a COVID-19 issue stated by the opponents.
