Southlake Carroll High School quarterback, Kaden Anderson, is filling some pretty big shoes

SOUTHLAKE, Texas  — Southlake Carroll High School always receives a lot of national coverage for their stellar football program. With eight state titles under their belt, they are a force to be reckoned with. This year, one of the top º£½ÇÉçÇø in sports was about the Dragons former star quarterback, Quinn Ewers,
and his unprecedented decision to forgo his senior year and play for Ohio State. In addition, Ewers signed a $1.7 million contract as part of the new NIL (Name, Image and Likeness) mandates. This will allow Ewers to profit on his choice to leave high school early for college. That decision left a lot of players and fans in the dark on who would replace Quinn Ewers. The obvious choice would have
been the backup QB for Ewers last season, Hunter Holden.

Dragons head coach, Riley Dodge, made his starting quarterback selection public Aug. 7, 2021, naming junior, Kaden Anderson, as his choice. Kaden was the third-string quarterback last season behind Ewers and Holden. Anderson is 6’4, 205 pounds, and he has an extremely powerful passing arm. His top-ranking score by class and style is 99, with an overall score of 90.78. Kaden’s freshman stats include 2,013 passing yards, 26 passing touchdowns, 568 rushing yards, and 15 rushing touchdowns. That is quite an impressive accomplishment for a freshman. Coach Dodge apparently made a great choice … Southlake Carroll has won their first three games, and they are ranked No. 1 in district.

Kaden is described as having extreme poise and accuracy in his passes, throwing with a high-release point adding greater lift. His release is very consistent and fluid, and he knows how to use the defensive weaknesses in his favor. He needs to play every game this season at 110% … every snap, every pass, every decision in every play needs to be calculated. He needs to prove that he is the right choice for starting QB. Those shoes he has to fill as Southlake Carroll’s quarterback are enormous, considering Quinn Ewers was the No. 1 national high school football player last year, and the Dragons are ranked in the top 20 nationally. Coach Dodge believes in Anderson, his teammates support him, and he just may become as talented and successful as his predecessor.
