Tommy Bliss returns Richmond Hill this new season giving the best for his team

RICHMOND HILL, Ga. — Football players’ legs represent the holy grail of their careers; everything would be lost without them, although there are exceptions.

Tommy Bliss experienced his worst nightmare when he was injured in an accident on the football field. The wide receiver for the Richmond Hill Wildcats briefly recalls the details of the collision.

It all happened in the second game of the 2020-2021 season. Last year, Bliss was running across the field to receive the kickoff from his teammate. The field conditions were unfavorable; it had rained, which caused the land to become a huge puddle. The player’s foot got stuck as he ran, at which point the kick returner stumbled in front of Bliss, hitting his knee.

This small mistake caused the cartilage in Bliss’s knee to tear and fracture his femur. Richmond Hill was finished because this injury could cost one of the best receiver鈥檚 a career.

Bliss has been playing with the Wildcats since the 2019 season; he was a sophomore and took the wide receiver position. by Bliss, Richmond finished the season with an overall record of 9-4 and a league record of 4-0.

When the accident happened, Bliss was having a strong start to the season, but fortunately the loss wouldn鈥檛 affect the Wildcats in the long run. Although Richmond was fragile about losing his star receiver, the team finished the season with a 5-1 league record and a 9-3 overall record.

After the injury, Bliss had to undergo emergency surgery. The player was determined to finish the season, but physical rehabilitation prevented it. During the spring, the Wildcats receiver underwent therapy, strengthening himself to enter the current season.

Bliss returned to the football field in Richmond’s first game against Beaufort. The player showed that he still can represent the Wildcats by scoring touchdown. Bliss also racked up three tackles, a block, and two catches. However, the team lost to the Eagles with a score of 28-8.

The Wildcat team is 0-2, waiting to redeem itself on September 17, facing Northside. Bliss will seek victory in this game to give his team the hope they need.
