A spotlight on River City High School football team
WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The River City High School football team, without a doubt, has been undergoing an interesting year. Still ahead, a long array of outings are on the team’s schedule until the year ending, and Sacramento is warming up to see what the golden treasures of River City High School have up its sleeves in the coming season.
However, so far in the 2020-21 season the Raiders have had poor results against their opponents. RCHS football are sitting at 0-2 without having played in their conference yet. The team’s most recent game against Vanden ended in scoreless fashion, a negative trend that has been consistent with the team’s 2020 when it lost seven of eight games.
Games await the team for the rest of the season and Ty Brown, the team’s head coach, is optimistic that RCHS will bounce back stronger than before.
However, the current climatic conditions coupled with the Covid-19 challenges have drawn back the team, clogging its wheels of progress in recent times. The wildfire that ravaged some parts of the United States resulted in unhealthy atmospheric emissions, and the management of River City High School deemed it fit to restrict sporting activities until the dangerous effects evaporate.
There are 47 players on the team, including Lance Logan and Guy Laackmann whose remarkable contributions to the games have not gone unnoticed. Through Logan’s overall and offensive abilities, as well as Laackmann’s defensive dexterity, the team won two awards for the player of the game for their play against Vanden on August 27, 2021. Although RCHS was crushed by the opponent, losing 49-0, the two young players brightened up the day for RCHS.
For the coming days, hopes are high as fans are looking forward to a positive turnaround for the Sacramento talents.
River City High School team is scheduled to meet the Woodlands today by 7:30pm for an away non-league competition then will play another away non-league game on September 10th, and a home match on the 17th against Antelope and Pioneer respectively.
On the flip side, chronicling the team would be incomplete without recognizing the brain behind the players, head coach Brown.
Ty Brown graduated from the University of Louisiana, Monroe, with Bachelor’s degree in Business administration, and studied at the Master’s level in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University in Irvine. Brown was a football player for American River College (Sacramento, CA) for two years.
Brown is more than an ordinary tutor. His experience in the field of coaching and mentoring youths has earned him enviable achievements, which included Delta League Champion as a coach, and winning the wrestling League Champion for the same team.
Other coaching achievements by Brown include: a Monticello Empire League Champion as a badminton coach and a conference championship as both a football coach and football player.
No iota of doubt can erase the fact that River City High School football is in good hands. As River City High School continues to maintain strict COVID-19 rules around its premises, a new dawn will shine on the team as they go to battle tonight to clinch a win.
