Buchholz Bobcats win their first game of the season
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (BVM) — It was a smooth night for the Buchholz Bobcats’ football team last weekend when they got their first win of the season against the Zephyrhills Christian Warriors.
The Bobcats were the better side from the start till the end. They controlled the tempo of the game. They played solid defense that gave the Zephyrill Warriors no chance to get back into the game by forcing numerous turnovers. It was a great way to start the season with a 32-6 win away from home.
Buchholz led 13-0 in the first quarter. Ja鈥機aree Kelly and Marida combined for a sweet touchdown that put the Buchholz Bobcats ahead early on in the game. A lead that they would maintain comfortably till the end of the fourth quarter.聽 But Jayce Nixon pulled the Warriors back into the game with his first varsity touchdown. These would be the only points the Warriors got in the whole game. At halftime, the score was 19-6.
Quan Lee was the man of the match after rushing 150 yards to score three touchdowns that ultimately secured the win. A solid defensive performance from Da鈥橲hawn Owens also helped by limiting the rivals to only 6 points in four quarters.
The 2015, 2016 and 2018 District Champions will be aiming for another District Championship this season after a two-year drought. The Bobcats will face Trinity Catholic on August 27 as their second game of the season.
