Preseason kickoff game between Tiger Town and Vanguard Ocala ends in a stalemate
OCALA, Fla. (BVM) — It was a battle between two tough, equally matched teams, the Tigers and the Knights. There could be no winner and the game ended in a 6-6 draw.
The Columbia Tigers traveled away to take on the Vanguard Knights in a long-awaited match. The game took place at the Booster Stadium in Ocala. Marcus Peterson gave the Tigers the lead 58 seconds into the third quarter from a quality pass from Cade Jackson for an 18-yard touchdown on 4th and 8.
But the Tigers were still in the game, and their tight defense coupled with their solid offensive efforts saw them equalize later on in the game that ultimately decided the score.
It was a challenging game for both teams that served as a good testing point as they prepare for the new season. The Columbia Tigers will face American Heritage Delray next Friday as their first game of the regular season.
