Monroe Mustangs strengthen their team with some new signings

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. — The women’s basketball team from Monroe College seems to be building something special following the addition of 6-foot-3 forward Sara Carjaval from Tomares, Spain.

Sara Carjaval arrived as a transfer student from Jefferson College on August 17, ready to showcase her talents and help the team win more games in the upcoming weeks.

It was an exciting announcement for the Mustang fans who last participated in the NJCAA Division I canceled in 2019-20. Sara Carjaval will be looking to adapt to the new system with the help of her new coach Dana Warner. Mrs. Warner has coached the Mustangs for 2 seasons now and has an impressive record of 39-20.

6’1 energetic forward Naomi Barnwell from France alongside 5-foot-10 winger Olivia Medford from Rockville, New York, were also great additions to the team in the past few weeks. The new trio of talented players is expected to take the team to the next level and hopefully win another trophy.

The Monroe Mustangs were the NJCAA Division III National Champions in 2006 and 2008. They also won the NJCAA Division II National Championship in 2011 and 2012.
