Two former WestConn basketball players to compete in TBT with We Are D3
DANBURY, Conn. (BVM) — Former Western Connecticut State University student athletes DeQuan Brooks and Fenton Bradley Jr. are going for a shot at the $1 million prize from The Basketball Tournament (TBT). The two are committed to We Are D3 and will have their first game on July 16 against Team Challenge ALS.聽
Brooks, a 5-foot-10 guard who graduated in 2012, is WestConn鈥檚 all-time leading scorer with 2,269 points and he is the all-time assists leader.
鈥淸Brooks] is in the prime of his career and before he was one of the top-dogs that I鈥檝e seen in DIII basketball,鈥 We Are D3鈥檚 head coach Mike Rejniak said in a . 鈥淚n my opinion, he belongs in the G league/top-level team. He鈥檚 one of those players that makes you question why he just played Division III. He is our most decorated player and I think his experiences playing with NBA guys (Sioux Falls Skyforce NBA G League) is going to be [valuable]. 鈥 I鈥檓 excited to see what he does not only in TBT, but also after the tournament.鈥
The other former WestConn player, 6-foot-8 forward Bradley Jr., is a more recent graduate who averaged 16.2 points and 6.3 rebounds during his senior 2019-20 season.
鈥淗e is an absolute gazelle, up and down the floor and unreal hops,鈥 Rejniak . 鈥淭his guy dunks everything with aggression. Really with him, it鈥檚 his speed and athletic ability. As he continues to get older, he鈥檚 going to continue to play himself up more levels because right now he is scratching the surface.鈥澛
We Are D3 has an upcoming center-stage primetime spot on ESPN for their July 16 opener. The former WestConn athletes will be ones to watch as they play to represent NCAA Division III basketball.
