Former Monmouth Hawks track star, Allie Wilson, places sixth at Olympic Trials
WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (BVM) — Allie Wilson last competed on the Monmouth University women鈥檚 track and field team during the 2019 season. During that outdoor season, she finished in fifth place at the NCAA Championships after clocking 2:02.56 in the 800-meter
Now, two years later, she broke two minutes in the finals of the 2021 Olympic Track and Field Trials. Wilson finished in sixth place after clocking 1:59.02 in the 800m. Although she did not claim a spot on Team USA, Wilson took to her Instagram after the conclusion of the meet.聽
鈥淭his week has been quite an emotional rollercoaster,鈥 Wilson wrote in following the Trials. 鈥淚 may be leaving a bit unsatisfied, but I am also leaving proud of what I have accomplished, even if it feels like I came up short.鈥
In fact, Wilson accomplished a lot for herself considering that her finals time was her personal best. The 25-year-old mentioned in her post that she鈥檚 proud of herself since a few weeks ago she was simply just trying to run the Olympic Trials standard time.聽
Next, Wilson plans on cheering on Team USA from afar when the Olympics begin in late July.聽
