Nick Taylor becomes dominant pitcher at Juanita despite rare birth defect in right arm

KIRKLAND, Wash. (BVM) — It may not have always been easy for Juanita High School grad Nick Taylor. But now, he is fresh off a dominant high school athletic career, and will soon continue his baseball career in college.

Taylor was born with a deformed right arm, as his arm ends where his wrist should be. However, that never slowed him down, trying out multiple sports when he was just 4 years old. The passion for Taylor would ultimately come on the baseball diamond, though.

While he did initially have some difficulty catching the ball, Taylor continued to work at it, watching videos of former MLB pitcher Jim Abbott — who also had a similar arm deformity.

Through his time playing in high school, Taylor has become a dominant pitcher. While he may have to play slightly different than most, the majority would never realize he was competing with any kind of challenge.

Taylor鈥檚 elite athletic career doesn鈥檛 stop on the mound either. He has earned eight varsity letters in his time at Juanita, also starting for the varsity basketball team, and starting at cornerback for the football team. He is also solid in the classroom, graduating with a 3.5 GPA.

Now, Taylor鈥檚 next journey awaits him, as he will soon head off to play baseball at Edmonds College.

A fantastic player who continues to inspire, there is no telling how far the lefty pitcher鈥檚 career might take him as he looks to make an immediate impact for the Tritons.
