San Jose State women鈥檚 golf adds Spanish National Team member
SAN JOSE, Calif. (BVM) 鈥 San Jose State women鈥檚 golf will welcome an international star to its program for the 2021-22 season.
Lucia Lopez Ortega is a member of the Spanish National Team and will join the Spartans in the fall. Currently ranked 393rd in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, Lopez Ortega is fourth in the U18 Spanish National Rankings and 24th in the U18 European Golf Rankings. She was recently selected to represent Team Spain at the European Championship and Spanish Team Championship which takes place in July.
During International Match Play against Sweden this past February, Lopez Ortega won three of her four matches and finished in the top five of three other tournaments in 2021. She placed fourth at the 2021 Spanish Amateur Championship, then won the Memorial Celia Barquin Copa Principado de Asturias before finishing second at the Campeonato de Madrid.
Spartans head coach Dana Dormann can鈥檛 wait to welcome Lopez Ortega to San Jose.
