Fort Collins names Bruce Dick new boys basketball coach
FORT COLLINS, Colo. (BVM) — Fort Collins High School has a new varsity boys basketball head coach, and it’s a familiar name to anyone who’s closely followed Colorado prep hoops at any point over the past four decades.
Bruce Dick, the fourth all-time winningest boys basketball coach in the state’s history, has been hired to lead the Lambkins.
The 2021-22 season will be Dick’s 40th as a varsity coach. He didn’t coach this past season after he was let go by Resurrection Christian following a 2019-20 season which the Cougars ended without a loss, but also without a state title after the COVID-19 pandemic brought an abrupt end to the Class 3A state tournament prior to the semifinal round.
Dick spent 10 seasons with Resurrection Christian, compiling an impressive record of 211-35 and leading the Cougars to back-to-back 2A state runner-up finishes in 2015 and 2016. His career started in 1982 at Green Mountain where he spent 24 seasons — and won a state title in 1992 — before moving on to Rocky Mountain where he stayed for five seasons, which included a run to the Great Eight in 2009.
Dick is replacing former Fort Collins coach Curtis Glesmann, who led the Lambkins to a 12-12 record in 2019-20 and a 2-12 mark this past COVID-19 shortened season. Dick will look to bring Fort Collins back to winning ways as he begins his 40th season with a career record of 682-212.
