Chillicothe varsity football: 2020/2021 season recap
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Chillicothe High School football team, famously called by their nickname the Chillicothe Cavaliers and are always donning their beautiful blue and white colors, had a good 2020-21 football campaign that was cut short by a defeat in their first playoff game. Under the leadership of head coach Douglas Pryor who took control of the team in the 2019/2020 season, the Cavaliers ranked at No. 401 in the state and No. 74 in their division play in the Frontier League Division III with an overall record of 5-2 in seven games with all five wins coming in league play as the team went on a five-game winning streak.
The Cavaliers had started the season with a loss to Wheelersburg in a jaw-dropping 31-0 loss, however they had a quick bounce back with a victory 23-7 over Washington CH. Their biggest victory of the campaign was against Miami Trace, a game that ended 44-3. The Cavs finished on top of the league in the regular season, however their hopes were cut short, surprisingly by Miami Trace who, likely seeking some level of revenge, knocked them out in their first playoff game in a 27-14 loss.
Although their season ended abruptly, the Cavaliers will be hopeful for the new season which kicks off for them on Aug. 20 in a game against Westerville Central at their opponent鈥檚 stadium.
