Resiliency of Rockwall-Heath baseball leads Hawks to the UIL state tournament
ROCKWALL, Texas — Throughout the season, Rockwall-Heath has been outstanding regarding ricocheting back stronger than ever after a loss. This is a proven case even in the end of the season games. With determination and a goal to complete the season as state champion, the Hawks are headed to the UIL Class 6A State Tournament.
The Rockwall-Heath Hawks completed their regular season a little bit behind Rockwall. However, with big wins over the likes of Horn, North Mesquite, Flower Mound, Frenship and more, the Hawks showed their strength each time they confronted an opponent on the way to the end of the season games.
When it came time for the end of the season games, the Hawks would not slow down. Confronting Rowlett first, Rockwall-Heath advanced in just two games (14-4, 7-0) before bringing down Mansfield in another two (5-2, 8-4). After an underlying loss to Sachse, the Hawks used the next two games to refocus, winning both with shutout scores (5-0, 10-0). In the Regional semifinals, the Hawks crushed Tomball in three games (8-0, 3-7, 3-2) before they advanced to the Regional finals, confronting an incredible Rockwall team once more.
Rockwall-Heath somehow dropped the first game of the Regional final series, and things may have looked terrible for many of those who lacked hope; however, the Hawks never questioned their ability. Scoring 11 runs in each of the following two games, the Hawks crushed Rockwall and advanced directly to the state semifinals.
Rockwall-Heath has been known and called upon for coming into the games this season and doing their best to hold off their opponents before scoring big for themselves to finish off the game. As a result, fans can anticipate that the Hawks should come into the state tournament prepared to battle to guarantee the UIL Class 6A State Title.
