Norwalk HS boys and girls compete for top finishes at the Class LL track and field championships
NORWALK, Conn. (BVM) — Two Norwalk High School boys track and field athletes took home gold medals on June 1 at the 2021 Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC) Class LL track and field championships.聽
Duke Quermorllue jumped for gold in the high jump with a jump of six-feet-four-inches and Gregory Foster sprinted ahead of everyone else in the 300-meter hurdles (39.92).聽
Additionally, Foster ran a time of 15.54 in the 110-meter hurdles event for a second place finish and Sebastien Pierre threw 120-feet-eight-inches in the discus for a fourth place medal. Norwalk ended up placing at No. 10 as a team with 34 team points.
The girls team also represented at state this year. The team finished with nine points (No. 15) after Christline Edward took fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (16.81) and fifth in the 300m hurdles (46.98).聽
It was an overall great day at the outdoor state meet for both the boys and girls teams from Norwalk. The athletes trained hard all season long and the team overall was stronger than expected with all things considered surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.聽
