A: Owen McBride, President/Co-Founder, Private Coaching Co.
Q: What team do you coach?
A: All athletes at all levels and ages!
Q: How long have you been coaching?
A: I have been coaching for about 9 years now.
Q: What is your background in sports?
A: I played soccer, basketball, baseball, and football in early school years and eventually went on to play soccer for Mountain United, Team BC, and eventually the Vancouver Whitecaps Academy before I joined Simon Fraser University on an athletic scholarship.
Q: What are one or two things that the team does in training that are keys to their success?
A: Enjoying the process! Sports should be fun! Having fun and working hard are the keys to success!
Q: Name a person who inspired you to play/coach sports.
A: All my coaches during my playing career helped me realize my passion for coaching and helped shape the coach I have become today!
Q: Describe your proudest coaching moment.
A: Anytime I can watch one of my athletes grow mentally and physically, become more confident in their abilities, and fall in love with sport, I am as proud as can be.
Q: What is the biggest life lesson you’ve learned from being a coach?
A: That a great coach can leave a lasting impact on athletes for their lifetime, both positive and negative. Which is why everything my team and I do, we strive to create positive memories and experiences.
Q: What legacy do you hope to leave as a coach?
A: I look forward to helping millions of athletes learn, grow, fall in love with sport, and stay active for life.

A: Sport should be fun, and I stand by that always. Whether elite or recreational, that should never change.
