Tanner Groves is on his way to Norman
NORMAN, Okla. (BVM) 鈥 One of this year鈥檚 NCAA Tournament stars, Tanner Groves, has found a new home.
The 6-foot-9 forward averaged 17.2 points and eight rebounds during the season. Groves had nine double-doubles, including a 14-point, 14-rebound performance in the Big Sky championship game against Montana State.聽
The Eastern Washington star also scored 35 points and made five 3-pointers in a first-round loss to the Kansas Jayhawks. His performance in that game opened a lot of eyes.
Following that loss, no less than a week later, the University of Portland hired Shantay Legans, and that鈥檚 when Groves decided he wanted to transfer. He had his final decision narrowed down to Oklahoma, Portland, Texas, and Washington State during his process.聽
鈥淚t has been a crazy, hectic, stressful, but overall fun past month,鈥 in a Twitter post. 鈥淣ever have I been in the position to make a decision this big so it鈥檚 taken me some time to think and reflect, I鈥檓 grateful for the opportunities I was given at Eastern Washington, it was an incredible stepping stone in my care and I will be an Eagle for life. 鈥 After lots of considerations and conversations with family members and coaches I have finally where my next home will be. I am incredibly excited to announce that I will be committing to Oklahoma University.鈥
With Groves joining the Sooners, new Oklahoma basketball head coach Porter Moser has his first significant addition since he got to Norman.聽
100% Committed!鉂わ笍
