Rice Memorial鈥檚 Michel Ndayishimiye commits to Vermont
SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (BVM) — Rice Memorial鈥檚 Michel Ndayishimiye announced he鈥檚 staying home, with his commitment to play basketball at the University of Vermont.聽
Ndayishimiye averaged 30.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game in the Green Knights’ undefeated run to a second straight Division I state title. The two-time reigning Vermont Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Year has lit up Division I competition during his time at Rice Memorial, averaging 26.9 points, 4.9 assists and 6.9 rebounds per game in his junior season as well.
鈥淗e鈥檚 got that ability to find that extra gear,鈥 Rice Memorial鈥檚 head coach Paul Pecor said of Ndayishimiye鈥檚 ability on the court last summer. 鈥淭his kid finds another gear where he knows he鈥檚 got to take over the game, or a situation, and it could be late in the fourth quarter, and he finds it.聽
鈥淗is endurance is through the roof, it鈥檚 like he just doesn鈥檛 get tired. Everybody basically face-guards or they have a guy on him the entire time so you鈥檙e thinking, he鈥檚 going to wear down, he鈥檚 going to wear down and he just doesn鈥檛.鈥
The 5-foot-10 senior guard will join Catamounts鈥 senior captain and former Rice Memorial guard Ben Shungu on the Vermont roster next year.聽
