Utah transfer Timmy Allen commits to Texas
SALT LAKE CITY (BVM) 鈥 Tuesday was a great day for new Texas men鈥檚 basketball coach Chris Beard and Longhorns fans.
On the same day that former Kentucky guard Devin Askew pledged his transfer to Texas and junior guard Andrew Jones announced his return to Austin, the Longhorns landed a first team All-Pac-12 honoree.
Utah transfer Timmy Allen has committed to Texas after being the only player in the Pac-12 this season to rank in the top 10 in three major statistical categories: scoring, rebounding and assists. The Utes鈥 most important player, Allen averaged 17.2 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game this season while shooting 46.5% from the field.

Allen was one of just three players from a Power 5 conference to average 17 points, six rebounds and 3.5 assists. The only other two were Illinois鈥 Ayo Dosunmu and Oklahoma State鈥檚 Cade Cunningham (both All-Americans).
The 6-foot-6 forward scored at least 20 points on eight separate occasions this season, four double-doubles and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Since Beard took over for Shaka Smart on April 1, Allen and Askew have transferred to Texas while Jones and senior guard Jase Fabres 鈥 who shot 39.2% from 3-point range in 13 games this season 鈥 have opted to return.
