Effective defensive play aids Camden CC men鈥檚 soccer with 3-0 start in delayed season
BLACKWOOD, N.J. (BVM) — The NJCAA Division III Camden County College men鈥� soccer team is off to an unbeatable start to the delayed 2020-21 season. They went 5-0 in their season opener against DII Mercer County Community College on April 2 before dominating in the following week鈥檚 matches.聽
鈥淚 think we had moments where we played pretty well and there were some moments that we weren鈥檛 at our best,鈥� said head coach Kevin Nuss in a following the game against Mercer. 鈥淏ut for the first game of the season against an opponent like Mercer, I鈥檓 happy with our performance and I think it鈥檚 a good start to what can be a pretty successful year for us.鈥�
Since then, the team has continued to prove themselves as a powerful force. This week, they won their second consecutive game with a 5-0 victory against Rowan Gloucester on April 6. Before the victory game, , 鈥淲e view this as the biggest game of the year for us鈥� it’s going to be a competitive match.鈥澛�
The following day on April 7, the team played their third game of the season against Salem Community College. Even though it was a back-to-back match from the evening before, Camden CC still went on to win 12-0.聽
鈥淧laying two games in two days is never ideal [because of] physical demand,鈥� before the game against Salem. 鈥淒oing that without any rest, it鈥檚 always going to be a challenge.鈥澛犅�
Camden CC so far this season is showing that nothing will stop them from dominating. This spring season is different considering that it鈥檚 abbreviated, so, there will be a number of matches squeezed into fewer weeks and less time to practice as a team.
This marks the end of week two of competition for Camden CC and the team is looking to not only continue the winning streak, but also, continue the top-notch defensive play.
