Leigh High School鈥檚 Bertani and her love for soccer
SAN JOSE, Calif. —聽Meet Miller Bertani, a 16 year old soccer phenom from San Jose California. A junior at Leigh High School, Miller鈥檚 love for soccer started at age 4 while playing for the South Bay Youth Soccer and Los Gatos United rec leagues. She now shines as a 3-year varsity starting defender at Leigh and the prestigious De Anza Force 04 team.
For Miller, soccer is more than just a sport; it鈥檚 passion that instills confidence, competition, and respect for others both on and off the field. 鈥淚 guess you could say I鈥檓 a competitive person by nature; both my parents played soccer collegiately and my younger sister plays comp soccer as well, so it鈥檚 kind of in my DNA,鈥� Bertani says. 鈥淏ut I also feel like the game gives me good life skills as well like hard work, perseverance, and teamwork.鈥�
Since the Covid-19 began a year ago, Miller鈥檚 teams haven鈥檛 been able to compete. But Miller has used the time as an opportunity to increase her soccer IQ, while maintaining an intense conditioning and fitness regimen. Her drive and aspiration to play soccer at the highest level is unwavering.
Outside of soccer, Miller is especially proud of her contributions to her local community and helping those in need. Since 2005, she鈥檚 helped her family produce an annual charity concert that has raised over $175,000 to a variety of foundations and charities.
