Kamryn Bacus aims to dominate with Bison
EDMOND, Okla. (BVM) 鈥� Following her senior season at Edmond North High School, Kamryn Bacus was named 2019-2020 Gatorade Oklahoma Volleyball Player of the Year. Now in her first year at Lipscomb University, Bacus is looking to help the Bison capture an ASUN Conference title.
Standing at 6-foot, Bacus had a senior year to remember for the Huskies. She helped her squad finish the regular season with an overall record of 30-6. During her senior campaign, she collected 617 kills, 410 digs, 69 blocks, and 56 aces and helped lead Norman North to the Class 6A state championship.
鈥淜amryn Bacus was a beast this season,鈥� said Norman North High School volleyball coach Steph Kane in a . 鈥淪he was their go-to player all around the court. She is an amazing player.鈥�
To go along with a state championship, Bacus is also a three-time first-team All-City selection. She was also named the 2019 Oklahoman Player of the Year.

Just as Bacus played an essential role on the court for the Huskies, she also played a significant role off the court. Bacus continually volunteered as a youth volleyball coach and gave her time with multiple community projects. But there is one project that remains near and dear to her heart. She still currently participating in #Play4Rain. This cause raises funds for childhood cancer research in honor of her friend, Rian Sanderson, who passed away at the age of 11.

Along with her volunteer work, Bacus also puts in work in the classroom. Throughout her prep career, she maintained a respectable 3.55 GPA.
Following a successful high school career, Bacus is continuing her volleyball career and education at Lipscomb University in Tennessee. Bacus is planning on majoring in communications and sports management. Bacus drew interest from plenty of colleges but ultimately signed a letter of intent to play at Lipscomb University about two years ago.
鈥淜am is long and an absolute force attacking wise,鈥� Lipscomb volleyball coach Brandon Rosenthal said in . She reminds me a little bit of Kaycee Green, a former LUV鈥檈r. She can hit angles that most can鈥檛 because of her length. She has great pop on the ball and a great mind for the game. She is kind of a quiet and intense person, and she knows exactly what she wants. When she locks in, nothing is going to stop her in going after exactly what she wants. She鈥檚 a tremendous talent, and I think she鈥檚 going to continue to elevate our game because of what she can do offensively.鈥�
Bacus is one of Oklahoma鈥檚 best athletes. A humble person and all-around great volleyball player, Bacus has worked hard on her game and it shows. The Bison have started the 2021 season 5-1, and Bacus has already made an immediate impact on the court. Expect her to continue to work hard and influence the outcomes of future games.
