Derienne Black earns AUM Warhawk of the Week honors
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (PRESS RELEASE) 鈥� Derienne Black of the Auburn University at Montgomery women’s basketball team has been named Warhawk of the Week for the week of December 6-12. This is Black’s first Warhawk of the Week honor.
Black (Madison, Ala.) soared in her first game wearing the Orange & Black. In a season-opening loss to Shorter, the Birmingham Southern transfer netted 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. She went 8-18 from the floor and added three steals.
Black was named to the 2020-21 preseason newcomers of the year list and figures to be an essential cog in the Warhawks offense this season.
The Warhawks will return to action for their first road contest of the 2020-21 campaign and will venture to Carrollton, Ga., to take on the West Georgia Wolves in Gulf South Conference action. Tip-off from The Coliseum is slated for 5 p.m.
