Celebrating Normal鈥檚 IESA Scholar Attitude Award winner, Giana Rawlings
NORMAL, Ill. — Congratulations to local NCHS athlete, Giana Rawlings, last year鈥檚 IESA Scholar Attitude Award Winner! The Illinois Elementary School Association鈥檚 award goes to 8th graders in regions across the state to recognize 鈥渢oday鈥檚 dreamers and tomorrow鈥檚 leaders鈥� through academic success, IESA activity participation, and community involvement. A recognition ceremony was suppose to take place, however was cancelled due to COVID19. We are excited to celebrate and recognize Giana’s achievements here.
Earlier this year, Giana was also nominated as Best Buddy Champion. Best Buddies is a national nonprofit that connects people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to friendships, jobs, living arrangements, and leadership opportunities. Giana鈥檚 All-Stars team raised money to support Best Buddies programming and promote diversity & inclusion in our community.
Giana has played basketball for nine years and just in the last three began playing volleyball as well.
